The reason being that, this year, i didn't really celebrate it. Why? Because, well, i thought it was pretty pointless. Why celebrate something that is so blown up for one day, when the next day you know that our leaders are going to keep doing what they do to our country?

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate my country. But at this very moment, i'm not exactly fond of everything that's going on. All the corruption and crimes and racism. You can say what you want to say about Malaysia being a multi-cultural country and how we're all living together in perfect harmony and bla bla bla, and i suppose in some ways we are. But if you really opened your eyes, you'd see how racist some people still are. You'd see the number of gangs fights that happen all around, even in high schools - malays against indians or indians against chinese or punjabis against malays.
I have a lot more I would say about this but then again, i might get arrested for saying them. They're not that bad, they're just not THAT nice either. Anyways, a belated happy merdeka to all. And i say this with half the spirit i had compared to last year. Because the way i see it, if things (read : people) don't start bucking up, everything about us is going to go down
Again, I repeat. I dont hate Malaysia. But I'm not the fondest of it right now. But, I believe better things will come, if we really strive for it.
Anyways.
