So. Valentine's Day.
Ordinarily i'd tell you Valentine's Day is for homos. or sissies. which is true.
But this year.
Though i'm newly single again, and i highlight the fact NEWLY and AGAIN, i will wish all you suckers out there a Happy Valentine's Day.
Forgive me for being pessimistic.
I just dont see the big deal about this day.
It's just another type of holiday that people, especially advertising companies, blow up into amazingly worrying proportions.
i mean really. Is valentine's day really about buying someone you love gifts? or going to some fancy schmancy restaurant for dinner?
NO. its not.
Valentine's day is about showing someone you love, just HOW much you love them, according to modern definition that is.
Ok so maybe some people show their affection for someone by buying them gifts and what not. But really, how many of you actually MEAN what you're trying to say with these gifts and all.
Don't get me wrong here. i'm not some anti-romance sorta person. in fact, i'm a hopeless romantic. i read those stupid books where in the end all the characters seems to fall hopelessly in love and have their happy ending. i'm a sucker for those romantic line guys throw at me.
BUT i so think Valentine's day is over rated.
WHY do we need JUST one day to show someone how much we love them when in fact we should be showing the person we love how much we care about them EVERY FRIGGIN DAY!
its not right.
that's why i dont particularly celebrate valentine's day. i'd much rather spend the day with some friends doing something crazy and silly.
so what am i doing this valentine's?
Well, today i'll be cleaning out the sunway apartment for us to move in. and then maybe later at night, i'll go out with some of my single friends for dinner.. have our own little shindig.
And you know what? i'll be loving it, knowing that i'm not one of those fake people who make valentine's day all lovey-dovey just for one day.
But to all you suckers out there, oOops! i mean PEOPLE, happy valentine's day. hope you guys have a good one.
and maybe next year, you're valentine's will be a little more realistic.
xoxo
