The fact that he says "the pursuit" of happiness suggests that maybe happiness is something we can only pursue and never actually have.

And i agree with this. I think it's true. Not all of us actually find happiness. And even when we find it, not a lot of us can actually hold on to it.
Life is a constant chase.
A chase to find wealth, happiness.. everything.

Do we all really catch it?
